As we chatted about on last night's Blog Talk Radio program, the fallout from Bill Ritter's appointment of Michael Bennet to the U.S. Senate continues. Liberal angst on behalf of the spurned former House Speaker Andrew Romanoff continues to grow. The latest is Susan Barnes-Gelt's column "What Was Ritter Thinking?" in the Denver Post:Bennet's decade-plus resume, elite pedigree and acute intelligence may confer gravitas-lite. However, his utter lack of legislative experience, political/elected bona fides and thorough knowledge of the state, its issues and character cast doubt on the governor's judgment. What does it say about our state's chief executive that he passed over an equally young, talented, out-of-the-box reformer who boasts an … [Read more...]
Denver Post Backs Grassroots GOP HD27 Challenger John Bodnar
The Denver Post gave its complete endorsement round-up for Colorado state house races today. It's impossible for us mere mortals to divine the rhyme or reason behind the Post's endorsements. As expected, the center-left editorial board has backed more Democrats than Republicans, and nearly every incumbent. But interestingly, the Post threw its lot behind two Republican challengers over Democrat officeholders. One of them is here in Arvada, where a hard-working, truly grassroots, common-sense candidate has emerged:HD 27 (Jefferson) — First-term incumbent Democrat Sara Gagliardi, a nurse, has focused primarily on health care. In Swing State Colorado, Obama’s “don’t have the votes in Congress” Resonates
Remember a couple weeks ago, Barack Obama's infamous response to "rumors" that he plans "to take away your guns." The junior Illinois Senator said: "I believe in the Second Amendment... you have nothing to fear from an Obama administration... And by the way, here’s another thing you’ve got to understand. Even if I wanted to take it away, I couldn’t get it done. I don’t have the votes in Congress." As ABC News blogger Jake Tapper points out:That "I don't have the votes in Congress" line has ricocheted around the country… Let's take an extreme hypothetical to make a point. Can you imagine a candidate saying something egregious as: "Why, of course, I'm against legalizing the international child kidnapping trade. And by the way, … [Read more...]
Dispelling Obama Rumors
I needed a good laugh tonight, so it was good to see Frank J. at IMAO performing the service of dispelling rumors about Barack Obama (H/T Jenn Sierra). Here are the first few to whet your appetite:RUMOR: Obama is a Muslim. STATUS: False Obama is not currently a Muslim. He's a Christian of some sort in the "hate Whitey" sect. RUMOR: Obama is an enlightened space alien sent to save humanity. STATUS: False All evidence points towards Obama being a below average man who his wife stopped asking to do chores around the house because he was always getting his head stuck in the mop bucket. RUMOR: Obama tried to bomb the Pentagon. STATUS: False That was his friend. Satire. I needed that. … [Read more...]
