Stop the Time Change Madness

Perhaps I'm making this post in more of a sleep-deprived than clear-thinking state, but can't we just end the "daylight saving" twice-a-year-time-switch madness? My personal preference would me to put us on daylight saving time all year long, but you can make your voice heard on an online petition. There's also a group on Facebook. … [Read more...]

Sign the “No Stimulus!” Petition

Update, 2/9, Noon MST: Here is a wonderful, brief article by Dr. Paul Prentice explaining the fallacy of the name "stimulus" for this bill and why it's a terrible economic prescription. Update, 2/9, 11:30 AM MST: Many, many visitors report difficulty getting to Americans for Prosperity's No Stimulus petition. Thanks to one commenter for pointing out another No Stimulus petition you can sign (from John McCain's Country First PAC). Keep up the good fight, everyone! Update, 2/2, 2 PM MST: Numerous commenters have pointed out they've had problems getting on the site linked below to sign the No Stimulus petition. Site hosts confirmed to me that a sudden and dramatic increase in traffic occurred after a mention on Rush Limbaugh's show, … [Read more...]

Ed Perlmutter “Working for Change”–Congress Doesn’t Deserve Pay Raise

Today I received in the mail a colorful brochure with the following written on the front: "Ed Perlmutter is On the Job, Working for Change". Franking privileges being what they are, I'm not generally surprised to receive these sorts of notices. But at first I was a little offended by the thought that my Congressman - who made a $169,300 salary in 2008 - would use bold letters to complain that he is "working for change," and to someone who makes considerably less. I braced myself: Was this a set-up? Was I about to open up the brochure and see the case for why Congress needed a bailout from itself? Has the economy gone so sour as all that? Fortunately, no, nothing so unusual as that. Like nearly all members of Congress, Perlmutter's … [Read more...]

Fraudulent ACORN’s Fallout: How Far From Barack Obama’s Campaign Tree?

Update: From Michelle Malkin, more compelling information on ACORN fraudulent activity, plus federal judge calls out Ohio secretary of state for election law violations... If you haven't been paying attention, it's time to tune in to the story of the Democratic presidential candidate (Barack Obama), widespread voting fraud (ACORN), and detestable past actions that fed the current financial crisis. Are you with me so far? I don't need to retread all the facts because so many others already have. Let's start with this editorial in Investor's Business Daily:A radical group Barack Obama used to work for is committing voter-registration fraud in several states, ahead of the election. What does Obama know about this scam? It goes … [Read more...]

Tables May Be Turning Against Denver Teachers Union in ProComp Faceoff

Negotiations between Denver Public Schools (DPS) and Denver Classroom Teachers Association (DCTA) are as heated as ever, with the performance pay plan known as ProComp still at stake:Denver Public Schools officials want an overhaul they say will better attract and retain talented teachers. The union says the current plan is fair to all teachers but that the DPS proposal would favor beginning teachers over veterans. Three days of mediation are set to begin Aug. 20, and the union has told teachers to prepare for a strike if no agreement is reached. In essence, the district's proposal is too radical for the union, which thrives on its perceived role as a defender of teacher security and must appease many of the more veteran teachers … [Read more...]

Sign the Petition to Tell Congress to Increase Domestic Energy Production

Conservatives have been behind the curve on mobilizing activism on the Net, but as Patrick Ruffini points out at The Next Right, there's a new opportunity to change the trend. I invite you to add your name to Newt Gingrich's petition to increase domestic energy production - at "Drill Here. Drill Now. Pay Less." It's a commonsense issue that is catching like wildfire. Sign the petition and spread the word. … [Read more...]
