Strange Scott McInnis Interviews Part of a Trend, Building a Narrative?

After I posted earlier this week about Scott McInnis' bizarre interview with Caplis and Silverman, an anonymous source dropped me an email that read in part:FYI, a week or so earlier McInnis had a similarly goofy, albeit not quite so bizarre, encounter with Stephen [sic] Tubbs on Colorado's Morning News. I haven't been able to chase down the audio, but thought you might be interested. Special thanks to 850 KOA for providing this audio from a recent episode of Colorado's Morning News as co-host Steffan Tubbs interviews Republican gubernatorial candidate Scott McInnis. Click the play button to hear the two-minute clip: "Goofy, albeit not quite so bizarre." I believe that's a fair characterization. Every time he goes off a bit … [Read more...]

Complete Colorado: 200-300 Show Up to Ed Perlmutter Townhall Meeting

Update, 10:30 PM: People's Press Collective has released its first coverage (with plenty of telling photos) of the meeting in Brighton: Perlmutter "immediately went into a roped-off area of the portico, announced he’d be there for two hours, and then retreated to the even more isolated alcove with a half-dozen (apparent) constituents and bodyguards. At which point he was taunted by the non-Democrats in the crowd for being a coward for hiding in the portico — and yes, it was blatantly obvious that that is what he was doing: isolating himself in a controllable space so as to avoid having to interact with the crowd directly. While the crowd was vocal (on both sides) for the first 45 minutes or so, there were no obvious altercations, nor … [Read more...]

Obama Care Astroturfing

The Left has grown so mixed up in its own deceit and self-delusion -- as they try to distract from the substance of Obama Care's open door to socialized medicine and government rationing -- it's hard to know where to begin. How about trying to drive the meme that citizen protests against Obama Care are overwhelmingly corporate "astroturfing" (a phony grassroots movement). There are so many clear, pointed refutations I've come across that it seemed easier just to point them out to you here in a quick list format. If you can following the links, read all these and still continue to believe that the pro-liberty, anti-Obama Care crowd is guilty of "astroturfing" as much or more than the Left (show me the evidence), well, we won't mistakenly … [Read more...]

Congress Out of Control: Tax Dollars Needed to Explain Joys of Broadband

Remain unconvinced that our government has way too much money to spend? Thanks to Martin Buchanan for pointing me to this article in today's Denver Post:At least six applications from Colorado, including one from the governor's office, will be submitted during the first round of the $7.2 billion federal broadband funding program. The state is asking for $3.8 million over two years. The money would be used to launch "an educational campaign on the merits of broadband and how it affects everyday activities," said John Conley, executive director of the Statewide Internet Portal Authority, which is handling the bid on behalf of the governor's office. The campaign would create six full-time positions and include a "mobile vehicle" that … [Read more...]

Bizarre Interview Raises Questions about Scott McInnis Candidacy

I've been behind the times a bit, and am striving to catch up. The Scott McInnis teeth-and-claws interview (MP3) with Caplis & Silverman on 630 KHOW? Simply bizarre. … [Read more...]

Video: Exposing Obama Care Agenda to Destroy Private Health Insurance

Still have any lingering doubts that Barack Obama and the Democrats in Congress plan to destroy -- albeit gradually -- private health insurance and bring about single-payer government health-care with the so-called "Public Option"? Then take two minutes and watch this: Then realize either how completely ignorant or utterly disingenuous my Democratic Congressman Ed Perlmutter is when he responds to me with a letter that includes this brief paragraph:Public Option- By introducing a public option, Americans will have more choices for their health care needs. If they like their current plan, they will be able to keep it, but this provides another choice in healthcare to those who don't have it, or who can't afford it. Also, let's add … [Read more...]

An Even Stronger Statement from Walker Stapleton’s Fundraising Take

This past quarter's fundraising numbers look even better for Colorado GOP treasurer candidate Walker Stapleton than I reported a couple days ago. His $138,211 take was not just a record for non-incumbents, but a record for any candidate ever in a Colorado treasurer's race. Incumbent Democrat treasurer Cary Kennedy was blown away by more than two-to-one -- as she only raised $65,999 during the past three months. The result for Stapleton is a cash-on-hand advantage of more than $53,000 over Kennedy. Rocky Mountain Right further takes Cary Kennedy's campaign to task for the last-minute desperate plea for money that suggested she was near the $100,000 mark on the last day of the fundraising period (or maybe just $34,000 away):This … [Read more...]

Bob Beauprez Entry Could Turn GOP Senate Primary into Two-Man Race

The rumors look as though they indeed are true: Politico talks to former Congressman Bob Beauprez and learns that he is "leaning towards running" for the seat held by appointed U.S. Senator Michael Bennet. Looking back at the 2006 debacle that was the campaign for governor, Swing State Project raises the serious, fair, and open-ended question of whether Beauprez is the man to beat Bennet. Senate Watch over at Rocky Mountain Right offers similarly subtle sentiments. My initial reaction? … [Read more...]

Developing Story: PERA Selling Assets?

In the past, I've commented about the difference between cumulative returns and average returns, especially when there's an outgoing cash flow to meet obligations.  I have learned that Walker Stapleton is claiming that PERA, Colorado's Public Employees Retirement Association, which has fallen to 50% funded, is now selling assets to meet obligations.  Evidently, PERA administrators have been making this statement off the record to during briefings. That's right: our public pension may have been reduced to eating its seed corn. Mr. Stapleton, whose campaign for State Treasurer will certainly make PERA administration a centerpiece issue, has filed a Colorado Open Records Act (CORA) request to see exactly what assets are being sold.  … [Read more...]

Challenge Your Member of Congress on Obama Care at Townhall Meeting

After you go to the Hands Off My Health Care Bus Tour, don't forget to show up to a townhall meeting with your Congressional Representative -- Democrat or Republican -- to share your views and ask the tough questions about Obama Care. For those who like me live in Colorado's 7th Congressional District, there's one scheduled meeting with Democrat Congressman Ed Perlmutter:Aug 08, 2009 Time: 1:00PM Title : Government in the Grocery (1:00-3:00pm) King Soopers 500 Bromley Lane Brighton, CO 80601 That's this Saturday in the remote outstretches of the gerrymandered district. Perhaps Perlmutter's staff will agree to host meetings in Aurora and on the west side of Denver (Lakewood / Wheat Ridge / Arvada), too. At least we can hope for … [Read more...]
