Getting caught up in the intense, day-to-day political and policy battles over the health care reform debate, it can be helpful from time to time to step back and take a look at the big picture. Not that I have time myself, but I can point you to two excellent pieces that do just that. First, National Review's Ivan Kenneally identifies evidence of a disturbing trend emerging in the current political showdown. Key quote to whet your appetite:Unfortunately, the contempt for public debate is one of the hallmarks of Obama’s technocratic approach to politics — in place of a healthy and democratic deference to public opinion, we get the assurance of expertise that comes with a bevy of special-issue czars. Meanwhile, the always … [Read more...]
New Hampshire Obama Care Astroturfing … Grand Junction Next?
The Campaign for Liberty documents the pro-Obama astroturf activity in and around yesterday's staged New Hampshire townhall meeting (H/T Granite Grok). Watch carefully, especially those of you who may be heading to Grand Junction to welcome the President for his next staged townhall meeting: … [Read more...]
Transforming Anti-Obama Care Debate to Pro-Liberty Health Reform
I'm a little late in posting, but I recommend to anyone who wants to stay intelligently attuned to the ongoing health care reform debate, please take a listen to my recent iVoices podcast interview with Brian Schwartz (click the play button): Both in the podcast and in a new Patient Power posting, Brian explains how the current medical insurance system suffers from too much regulation already and how insurance companies can gain more credibility in the debate. Speaking of the debate... … [Read more...]
Oh, the Times, They Are a-Changin’: Education Reform, Latest Edition
No time to blog in depth today. I invite you to check out my youthful alter ego Eddie's blog, especially yesterday's very interesting post titled "Teachers Union Hearts Voucher Group? Hatfields-McCoys Kiss and Make Up?" Oh, the times, they are a-changin'.... … [Read more...]
Just Say My Humble Site is on the White House Obama Care “Fishy” List…
So the White House wants to know if any of your friends or neighbors are resisting the party line on Obama Care:There is a lot of disinformation about health insurance reform out there, spanning from control of personal finances to end of life care. These rumors often travel just below the surface via chain emails or through casual conversation. Since we can’t keep track of all of them here at the White House, we’re asking for your help. If you get an email or see something on the web about health insurance reform that seems fishy, send it to flag@whitehouse.gov. Jon Henke follows up with the logical question: "What, exactly, does the White House plan to do with this information?" An excellent question that hopefully gets answered … [Read more...]
Reporting Presidential Disinformation on Health Care and Cap-and-Tax
From Red State, the uncut video showing what Obama wants to do to your private health insurance: Does this qualify as "disinformation" from the President's own lips? Someone should report him, or me, to the White House. Makes you wonder if the White House is also going to start collecting reports of "disinformation" on the cap-and-trade energy tax issue, too. After all, the Washington Times reports that a new study from the U.S. Department of Energy refutes The One's claims that cap-and-tax "holds the promise of millions of new jobs -- jobs, by the way, that can't be outsourced." ... Is that something fishy I smell? Someone may have to report the U.S. Department of Energy, too. … [Read more...]
Challenge Your Member of Congress on Obama Care at Townhall Meeting
After you go to the Hands Off My Health Care Bus Tour, don't forget to show up to a townhall meeting with your Congressional Representative -- Democrat or Republican -- to share your views and ask the tough questions about Obama Care. For those who like me live in Colorado's 7th Congressional District, there's one scheduled meeting with Democrat Congressman Ed Perlmutter:Aug 08, 2009 Time: 1:00PM Title : Government in the Grocery (1:00-3:00pm) King Soopers 500 Bromley Lane Brighton, CO 80601 That's this Saturday in the remote outstretches of the gerrymandered district. Perhaps Perlmutter's staff will agree to host meetings in Aurora and on the west side of Denver (Lakewood / Wheat Ridge / Arvada), too. At least we can hope for … [Read more...]
Memo to My Fellow Mob: Stay Strong and Respectful Against Obama Care
Updated and brought to the top of the fold: Iowahawk makes the point much more effectively and much more humorously than I have. Please read ... and per usual, be sure to keep the liquids clear of the keyboard. [Update at bottom] A growing segment of the American public is angry and awakened about the Obama administration's sly attempt to socialize our nation's health care system. They're showing up to Congressional townhall meetings and expressing their displeasure. I am amused to watch the Left's increasingly unhinged reaction. The irony is so very rich, it's hard to capture it all. First, there's the Democratic National Committee going on the offensive calling you part of an orchestrated "mob" if you stand up vocally against … [Read more...]
Breaking News: Blogger El Presidente Announces U.S. Senate Non-Candidacy
(Satire Warning) Breaking news... El Presidente releases an important campaign-related announcement this morning: He is NOT running for the U.S. Senate in 2010. I heartily endorse El Presidente's non-candidacy. And for the three of my readers out there who might be wondering, yours truly is still carefully weighing the possibility of opening an exploratory committee to enter the six1,013,476-way GOP primary. Stay tuned.... … [Read more...]
White House Lost in Alternate Reality about Public Views on Obama Care
The Left's desperation on the health care debate clearly extends all the way to the White House. Not just asking for informants, but creating an alternate reality. A source forwarded me an email she received from "info@barackobama.com" that sets the stage as follows: … [Read more...]
