The Best Healthcare Jobs Ranked

With years of incredibly strenuous study, undergoing a Medical Degree is not for the faint-hearted. You’ll need to complete four to five years of pre-med, four years of medical school, and then three to seven years of residency depending on the field you wish to certify in.

However, becoming a doctor, nurse or dentist is appealing because it’s a job that allows people to bring goodness into the world. Although hard work, there’s nothing better than saving lives, and feeling like what you do truly matters.

Of course, working in medicine is time–consuming, requires unsociable hours and can take an age to become a fully-fledged doctor, etc. However, the pay isn’t bad, and the positions are always needed and in demand.

If you’re a student thinking about a career in the medicine industry, here is a list of the best healthcare jobs currently.

Dentist

If you like to learn a lot about a little, and wish to hone your skills to one aspect of the human body, then you may find becoming a dentist vastly appealing. Although many people dread the dentist because they’re worried about what they may find, dentists are in high demand due to people wanting cosmetic treatments like teeth whitening.

The median salary falls around the $152,700 mark, and holds a 0.1% unemployment rate, meaning finding work will be no trouble at all.

Nurse Anesthetist

Anaesthesia has come a long way and is safer today than it has ever been before. Modern-day anaesthetists use a number of drugs and inhaled gases to administer, so surgeons and other physicians can complete procedure with little to no discomfort to the patient.

You may be asking what’s the difference between a nurse anaesthetist and anesthesiologist, with the simple answer revolving around education. Nurse anaesthetists are registered nurses who specialize anesthesiology with at least one year of critical care experience and a master’s degree, whereas anesthesiologists are physicians. The profession is set to grow by 19% by 2024.

With a 0.7% unemployment rate and a median salary of $157,140, there’s nothing holding registered nurses back. Valley Anesthesia is a recognized leader, helping Student Registered Nurse Anesthestist’s prepare for the National Certifying Exam and is an AANA Approved CEU.

Pediatrician

Pediatricians are doctors concerned with the physical and emotional well-being of children from infancy to adolescence, and is, therefore, perfect for a doctor-in-training who has an infinity with children. Although being a pediatrician is a speciality within the medical field, pediatrics also has subspecialties such as oncology and psychiatry.

81.5% of pediatricians are either “very satisfied” or “satisfied” with their professional hours and median salary of $170,300 income.

Surgeon

As a surgeon, you must be ready for stress and uncertainty, and therefore, prospective surgeons must understand the gravity of the job. Your daily routine will involve planning surgeries, and rushing near-fatal patients into the theatre no matter the hour of the day. Although not a job for the light-hearted, becoming a surgeon has been described as rewarding.

Surgeons understandably earn high salaries of $187,200.

Working in healthcare can be demanding. Therefore, only people who are 100% committed to joining the field should consider the long-winded studies of medicine. However, once certified, you may find this is the most gratifying job someone could have.
