That's MEP Daniel Hannan, a breath of fresh political air from the other side of the pond. And he'll be in our Rocky Mountain backyard at the end of this week. Hannan will be the guest of honor and speaker at a Denver reception sponsored by the Independence Institute. You're invited! Stirring oratory ... a voice for liberty and fiscal sanity ... with a British accent. Sounds like a winning trifecta to me. Hope to see you there. … [Read more...]
If the Federal Debt Could Be Imagined as a Map of the United States…
Less than 3 minutes is all it takes for this excellent visual explanation of the rate of our mounting national debt (H/T Gene Kinsey): Brought to you by the same guy who cleverly explained Barack Obama's proposed spending "cuts" in terms of pennies and large containers of water. I hope he keeps these coming. For the record, I'm not comfortable with any rate of speed going westward at this point. Rather than drag-racing to Los Angeles, I'd be happy to see us hitchhiking back to the Big Apple (metaphorically speaking, that is). … [Read more...]
Walker Stapleton Preaches Fiscal Conservatism on National Cable TV
On national cable television, Colorado Republican state treasurer candidate Walker Stapleton takes on government involvement in the auto industry and Congressional hypocrisy in this one-minute clip (H/T Rocky Mountain Right): "Congress needs to live within the same means and guidelines as these companies they're preaching at." … [Read more...]
Wow! Curtis Granderson and Tigers A Leap Ahead of Last Place Indians
I have a friendly rivalry going this season with blogger Civil Sense from The Colorado Index. Today seemed like a good a time as any to point it out. Baseball is a long season, but his Cleveland Indians have slipped to the worst record in the Major Leagues after back-to-back home shutout losses to my Detroit Tigers. Tonight's 4-0 victory was great, but the finish couldn't match the 1-0 thriller on Friday -- when Tigers ace Justin Verlander carried his two-hit shutout into the ninth inning. Grady Sizemore came to the plate with one on and one out when ... well, watch for yourself: Yep, that's my boy: Curtis Granderson. And my Detroit Tigers a game out of first place and six games ahead of Cleveland. Ouch, Civil Sense. Ouch. (It … [Read more...]
Which Nickname Should Honor Michael Bennet’s Ongoing Indecision?
While we're killing time waiting for newly selected U.S. Senator Michael Bennet to make up his mind on the union card-check bill, we can entertain ourselves with a good, old-fashioned nickname debate. The National Republican Senatorial Committee has started a video campaign (watch below the fold) to label Colorado's junior senator as "Back 'N' Forth Bennet": … [Read more...]

Will You Be Visited Next by the Taxpayer Bailout Prize Patrol?
There's lots of bad news out there, which put me in the mood for some timely levity. This must-see video is sure to elicit a laugh (or, at least a smile). From Right.org, the Bailout Prize Patrol visits everyday Americans, large corporate banks, and United States Senators with large checks, colorful balloons, and tacky noisemakers. Oh, come on, you know you want to watch it (H/T Real Debate Wisconsin): … [Read more...]
Liberty on the Rocks Responds to Obama’s Final Stimulus Package
Tired of all the government bailouts? Then watch the great new video from my friends at Liberty on the Rocks: Should Amanda's fame continue to grow as a result of this video, it's going to become difficult to avoid the inevitable comparisons with this comic legend. … [Read more...]
Schock-ing Obama on the House Floor
In this bleak moment of Congressionally-approved bloated government spending and stimulation, we did hear from the youngest member of Congress and doubtless a rising conservative star in years to come: Rep. Aaron Schock of Illinois (H/T The Corner). If I'm not mistaken, I believe he is the first member of Congress younger than myself - so it's all downhill from here. Hot Air posted this video of this well-delivered zinger of a speech from the House floor earlier today: Kind of fits with the politically conservative youth movement here in Colorado. … [Read more...]
