It was good to see ACORN brought up in tonight's debate. My frequent attention of late to the topic has brought on Lefty critique (22 comments!) that the group has never actually been convicted of electioneering fraud. But we'll leave that dispute aside for the time being. Investigative reporter Stanley Kurtz points us to the deeper problems:On ACORN, I continue to be stunned by Obama’s denials of his extensive ties to this execrable group. The fact that ACORN came up at all is good. Most folks still don’t know what ACORN is, how bad it is, and how deeply it’s tied to the financial meltdown. John McCain needs to make sure the public learns about ACORN and Obama. Obama’s dissembling on his ties to ACORN shows that he recognizes … [Read more...]
All You Need to Know about Why You Should Vote NO on Amendment 59
I've just updated my 2008 guide to the Colorado ballot to include a link to a new website with all the main reasons why you need to Vote No on Amendment 59 (H/T The Daily Blogster). Quite simply, big-spending liberal politicians want to take away your TABOR refunds forever - and they're deceptively hiding behind schoolchildren to do it. So in case you needed the simple reminder, please Vote No on Amendment 59 and avoid getting ripped off. … [Read more...]
“My Mom is Voting for Trig’s Mom”: Scene from this AM’s Sarah Palin Rally
Over at People's Press Collective last night, El Presidente posted the picture and story of an Alaskan couple temporarily displaced to Colorado:The attached photo is from a young couple from Anchorage, Alaska; here in Denver to have their special needs baby. The mother, Megan, said a few weeks ago she spoke with Gov. Palin about special needs babies for about ten minutes. They are so excited about her that they’re now volunteers for this rally! Megan will deliver their special needs son and then he will be cared for at Denver’s Children’s Hospital. Megan had a little blue baby outfit that said, “My mom is voting for Trig’s mom!†and both Megan and her husband were proudly wearing their Palin t-shirts, which they had ordered … [Read more...]
Sarah Palin Really Captures the Attention of the Colorado Blogosphere
I must say I'm glad I initially had the wrong information about who John McCain's running mate would be. Sarah Palin was the best pick. What's everyone else saying? Well, it's rare to see such unanimous sentiment asserted. Here goes: Steven, the New Conservative, who long has been championing Palin to be McCain's running mate, now says her selection was a "bad idea" ... for the Left Michael at Best Destiny says it's brilliant political Jiu-Jitsu Bob Agard calls the selection of the Alaska Governor "sheer brilliance" Jim at Thinking Right says "Outstanding!" Kenneth Davenport, writing at Backbone America, asserts that the choice is "a political masterstroke" Rocky Mountain Right calls Sarah Palin "an excellent choice" The Denver … [Read more...]
Michael Yon’s Words Deserve Attention
Mr. Bob points the way to a stellar Wall Street Journal column penned by Michael Yon, who has earned the utmost credibility in Iraq by virtue of spending more time following the action in person than probably any other independent observer. So when he writes:I have seen this war – and our part in it – at its brutal worst. And I say the transformation over the last 14 months is little short of miraculous. The change goes far beyond the statistical decline in casualties or incidents of violence. A young Iraqi translator, wounded in battle and fearing death, asked an American commander to bury his heart in America. Iraqi special forces units took to the streets to track down terrorists who killed American soldiers. The U.S. military is … [Read more...]
Mr. Bob and Michael Yon: Last Major Iraq Battle?
Mr. Bob (via the amazing Michael Yon) points us to "The Last Major Battle in Iraq?" It is to my discredit that I don't keep up with events in the Middle East as well as I should. With the success of the "Surge" strategy, events in Iraq largely have fallen off the MSM radar and out of the Presidential campaign debate. But it was interesting to read this news today. After you check out this post, remember also to stop by the Victory Caucus website, which is loaded with tons of information and commentary. … [Read more...]
