My employer, the Independence Institute, has released another great video. Find out in less than 90 seconds why Obama Care is like a game show you don't want to be a contestant on: I suppose introducing this video to you makes me "un-American" ... … [Read more...]
Sitting Down with Dan Maes
I was pleased to have the opportunity this week to sit down for a half-hour one-on-one lunch meeting with Republican gubernatorial candidate Dan Maes. It was a pleasant if too brief conversation. To sum up: The Evergreen businessman is unconventional for an unconventional candidate. What do I mean by that? Yes, he hasn't necessarily followed the traditional path toward a major party nomination for the state of Colorado's highest office. But he also brings a rare mixture of passion, confidence, humility, and realism to the contest. He is frank about the sacrifice his run has entailed for himself and his family, and I also believe him when he says he is deeply impelled to continue his quest for office. Pundits have all but written off … [Read more...]
Memo to My Fellow Mob: Stay Strong and Respectful Against Obama Care
Updated and brought to the top of the fold: Iowahawk makes the point much more effectively and much more humorously than I have. Please read ... and per usual, be sure to keep the liquids clear of the keyboard. [Update at bottom] A growing segment of the American public is angry and awakened about the Obama administration's sly attempt to socialize our nation's health care system. They're showing up to Congressional townhall meetings and expressing their displeasure. I am amused to watch the Left's increasingly unhinged reaction. The irony is so very rich, it's hard to capture it all. First, there's the Democratic National Committee going on the offensive calling you part of an orchestrated "mob" if you stand up vocally against … [Read more...]
Breaking News: Blogger El Presidente Announces U.S. Senate Non-Candidacy
(Satire Warning) Breaking news... El Presidente releases an important campaign-related announcement this morning: He is NOT running for the U.S. Senate in 2010. I heartily endorse El Presidente's non-candidacy. And for the three of my readers out there who might be wondering, yours truly is still carefully weighing the possibility of opening an exploratory committee to enter the six1,013,476-way GOP primary. Stay tuned.... … [Read more...]
Just Say My Humble Site is on the White House Obama Care “Fishy” List…
So the White House wants to know if any of your friends or neighbors are resisting the party line on Obama Care:There is a lot of disinformation about health insurance reform out there, spanning from control of personal finances to end of life care. These rumors often travel just below the surface via chain emails or through casual conversation. Since we can’t keep track of all of them here at the White House, we’re asking for your help. If you get an email or see something on the web about health insurance reform that seems fishy, send it to flag@whitehouse.gov. Jon Henke follows up with the logical question: "What, exactly, does the White House plan to do with this information?" An excellent question that hopefully gets answered … [Read more...]

More Beautiful All the Time
(H/T Vodkapundit) The Daily Mail reports on a study that says women are getting more attractive. Ain't nothing wrong with that! But then it contains this gem:Researchers demonstrated that beautiful people are 36 per cent more likely to have a daughter than a son as their first born child. That's the lovely Mrs. Virtus I'm talking about. … [Read more...]

You can read the release below for more details -- which also includes some information on the issue questions and demographics of those who took the survey: July 2009 … [Read more...]

Ethically Challenged Ed Perlmutter?
Hats off to the Washington Times for the scoop on what my representative in Congress has been up to:Rep. Ed Perlmutter of Colorado inserted a provision into the recently passed House climate change bill that would drum up business for "green" banks, such as the one he has invested in and his family and a political donor helped found in San Francisco. The bill calls on bank regulators to promote green banking and says federal dollars should be used to support energy-efficient home improvements at government-funded housing projects. Mr. Perlmutter, a two-term Democrat, has two investments in the 3-year-old New Resource Bank, which calls itself the nation's first green bank. Among other environmentally conscious banking products, the … [Read more...]
