Keep Pressure on Michael Bennet Against Very Costly Obama Care Plan

Next week Congress goes back into session. The public passion and heat of the townhall meetings goes away, and attention once again drifts back to Washington, DC. As that happens, though, Coloradans still need to remain engaged and informed.

As the Patient Power blog explains, a new report published by the Independence Institute (my employer) highlights one major downside of the current Obama Care proposal:

The study concludes that President Obama’s health care reform agenda will cost $4,156 per Colorado resident in additional federal and state expenditures over the next 10 years. In addition, the proposed government health care expansion will reduce economic growth in Colorado by 4.3% through 2019.

In other words, an economic disaster!

With our appointed U.S. Senator getting pressure to move to the left on government health care (VIDEO) (H/T Complete Colorado) and facing a likely primary challenge from Labor-backed former state house speaker Andrew Romanoff, it looks like Michael Bennet will take the low road and vote to stiff Colorado families.

While we’ll have to wait and see, that doesn’t mean it’s time to take the pressure off Bennet or anyone else in Congress. They have to keep hearing what a disaster the government takeover of health care would be.

Then again, what’s a junior Senator supposed to do when it’s not even clear what his President and party leader plans to do on the issue of health reform. As businessword.com at Rocky Mountain Right points out, Obama Care (whatever it may be) is such an anchor of unpopularity, Bennet might have second thoughts about wearing it.
