When you are in the bottom tier of candidates in the crowded primary field for Colorado’s Republican U.S. Senate primary nomination, you have to do what you can to attract attention. Enter the physically fit and environmentally responsible grassroots candidate Luke Korkowski, who today announces:
Luke Korkowski, candidate for United States Senate, will be taking the long way to the Republican dinner meeting to be held in Keystone on Friday, September 25. Luke will launch the inaugural Free Colorado Tour by riding his bicycle from Salida to Keystone over the course of four days, stopping to meet with folks along the way. Luke will start his ride on the morning of Monday, September 21.
The object of this first Free Colorado Tour event is to motivate Coloradans to demand of our federal government: *Please, leave us alone!*
Along the winding roads in the very heart of Colorado, Luke will make scheduled stops in Buena Vista, Leadville, Copper Mountain, and finally in Keystone. Interested independents, democrats [sic], and republicans [sic] may come out and meet Luke along the way. He expects you will have some vigorously held opinions about our current political situation, and he’s happy to hear them. Luke said:
People hate the ruling political class — Republicans and Democrats — right now with a vitriol like I have never seen, but the elites don’t get it. We’ve come a long way from “Ask not what your country can do for you . . . .” Instead, the elites are telling us that our country exists not only to do *for* us but to do *to* us.
Where have I heard that before?
But kudos to Mr. Korkowski for trying to distinguish himself in style. He has to do it somehow. After all, I can’t imagine Cleve Tidwell biking through the mountains. Heck, even if high-altitude bicycle tours become the new standard for running for Colorado statewide office, I can’t imagine myself doing it, either!
