Channel 7 investigative reporters Arthur Kane and John Ferrugia have exposed Democrat Governor Bill Ritter’s so-called “hiring freeze” for what it really was:
Gov. Bill Ritter promised a hiring freeze last year to help bridge the budget gap, but a CALL7 investigation found that as many as 2,300 employees were hired during the “freeze.”
As much as a year ago I called out Ritter’s phony “freeze”. In January Denver Post reporter Jessica Fender described Bill Ritter’s so-called “freeze” as “more of a chill”. Back then I asked “Doesn’t anyone want to run for governor against this guy?”
Well, now we have three Republican candidates — including state senate minority leader Josh Penry upping Fender’s description of the so-called “freeze” by correctly calling it a “hiring farce.”
As Penry makes the most effective arguments against the current administration’s lack of leadership in hiring practices, the Lefties are working overtime to discredit him. All I can say is: “Nice try.”
Now I can say with a fair degree of confidence a couple things about this evening’s gubernatorial candidate forum at Colorado Christian University:
- Bill Ritter won’t show up; and
- Josh Penry will acquit himself well, making the most effective arguments for Ritter’s retirement and his own election
I’m willing to wait and see the after-action reports from the forum to confirm my predictions, but that would well fit how the trends have lined up thus far in this race.
