From my recent post about the controversy in Telluride, I received a comment from the man under fire. I decided to give it more light by posting it here:

Here is an e-mail that we just sent out this morning.“Dear Friends,
We have been informed that Telluride Ski and Golf Communications Director Maryhelyn Kirwan has begun a smear campaign against Al Heirich in an effort to divert attention away from the Telluride Cyberguide Family Posting controversy.
This smear campaign is an effort to drive a wedge between our conservative Christian supporters and the Telluride Cyberguide.
Do not let them do this.
This issue is about nothing but our ability to notify parents and the subsequent (and only) e-mail from Telski declaring our site discriminatory based on our Notice.
We have reluctantly decided to move forward with legal action against Telski and the other entities involved based on this new tactic of Telski’s.

Please do not let this issue die out or be diverted to smear tactics.
If you are told anything other than what VP Pete Wood stated in his e-mail to us, please let us know immediately so we may pass it on to our Attorneys.
If you are lied to by contacts at Telski, ask them for documentation.

The Heirich’s (unwanted) battle from last year was lost. They have closed the Telluride Cyberguide and Al Heirich has been fired after three years from his volunteer Monday Morning Talk Show on local community radio (KOTO) for his family posting last January.
The Heirichs continue to be attacked in the local press (Womack Publishing)which refuses to publish any commentary or rebuttle from Mr. Heirich.
From our understanding, Mr. Heirich has left the Republican Party and has become an independent due to the lack of assistance from the Conservative community (with the exception of the Blogs) in fighting this battle. (Conservative Petitions made many promises but quit the battle after being threatened by the powerful and rich in Telluride).
Mr. Heirich refuses to discuss politics in a public arena and has removed himself from the limelight.
In other words, Telluride no longer has a Conservative voice which it seems to not want.
How sad for the community and for the Conservative movement.
They have lost a voice from an intelligent and kind man.
